Shifting Soundscapes
The sounds start with custom-recorded synthesizer, guitar and bass samples, as well as piano, pizzicato strings, vibraphone and marimba from the University of Iowa Electronic Music Studios.
Simple arpeggiator controls, independent for each part, allow for a wide range of textures and possibilities.
There are three parts which can independently load the samples. Each part includes tone sculpting controls.
Each part has its own tempo-syncable delay, and smooth, lush reverb.
The onscreen keyboard is always set to the same scale that is used to generate the harmony. It can play any of the included samples, with all the same audio controls and effects. You can also optionally use the scale mode with an external MIDI keyboard controller.
Each of these clips was recorded directly from ChordFountain in a single take, without additional processing, using only the iPad's onscreen keyboard and controls.
